Tralee is located in the shelter of Tralee Bay with sea and mountains to the west. Kerry is the main tourism destination of Ireland and is famous for its lakes, mountains and miles of sandy blue flag beaches. Tralee is an ideal base for touring the Dingle Peninsula, Killarney with its National Park and the Ring of Kerry.
Tralee is home to the Rose of Tralee festival where young ladies, with Irish roots, gather from all over the world to complete for the title "Rose of Tralee".
There is a good selection of world class golf courses within a short drive. These include Barrow(Tralee), Killarney Golf and Fishing Club with its 3 fine courses, Ballybunion Golf Club with its Old and Cashen courses and many others including some 9 hole courses.
For the active, but none golfer, Kerry has much to offer. Some of the best surfing beaches and wind surfing in Ireland. Hill walking and climbing in Irelands highest mountains. Pony trekking and horse riding. Good sea fishing from both shore and boat. Excellent in-season salmon and trout fishing and much more. The historian will be pleased with the plethora of old castles, towers, abbeys and standing stones. |
